C. Debussy - I from Preludes, Book II: Brouillards
Brouillards' translates into English as 'Mists,' or 'Fog,' and opens the second of Debussy's two books of preludes for piano.
The piece begins with the left-hand introducing a sombre theme in triads on the white-notes of the keyboard, which is enveloped by the wash of black-notes played by the right-hand. The white and black mingle together in our ears to create a distinctively 'grey' sound world - foggy, and misty.
Recorded on the 5th of June, 2019 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
